ABOUT

GAIA LOGOWelcome to Zero Waste World, the premier online source for community and policy-based solutions to waste, pollution, and injustice.

The blog features stories from frontline communities developing zero waste innovations that benefit us all. From incineration bans to waste-picker organizing victories to policies for reducing plastics in our cities, you’ll read inspiring real-life accounts of people working towards sustainability from the ground up.

We welcome well-crafted blog submissions about zero waste (for criteria, read What is Zero Waste?). Please use our contact form to submit a blog for consideration.

The Zero Waste World blog is a project of GAIA, the Global Alliance for Incinerator Alternatives. GAIA is a worldwide alliance of more than 800 grassroots groups, non-governmental organizations, and individuals in more than 100 countries whose ultimate vision is a just, toxic-free world without incineration. We recognize that our planet’s finite resources, fragile biosphere, and the health of people and other living beings are endangered by polluting and inefficient production practices and by health-threatening disposal methods. Because of this, we oppose incinerators, landfills, and other end-of-pipe interventions. Our goal is clean production and the creation of a closed-loop, materials-efficient economy where all products are reused, repaired, or recycled.

GAIA’s greatest strength lies in its membership, which includes some of the most active leaders in environmental health and justice struggles internationally.
